Abstract

Purpose: This study provides basic information for improve of health the disabled person by evaluation of their socio-economic level and disability characteristics, and by attempting to understand the connection between prevalence of chronic disease these characteristics.

Methods: This study used references from KIHASA after conduct of an inquiry from April 13th-June 10th, 2008 for collection of data from 6.314 subjects. This study focused on 722 disabled persons over the age of 20 years. The general character of the object used technical statistics, such as average, standard deviation, and so on. verification was used to confirm the difference of chronic diseases of general character, and Logistic regression analysis was used to determonation the possibilities and factors of affecting chronic diseases.

Results: Factors of impacting chronic diseases were related to sex (=11.61, p<.001), age (=37.56, p<.001), income level (=22.77, p<.001), occupation (=36.08, p<.001), type of disorder (=21.75, p<.001), and period of disorder (=37.78, p<.001). Analysis of the risks of affecting chronic prevalence rate showed that being female was 2.33 more dangerous than being male, age 46~64 was 2.68 more dangerous than 45 >, and 8.83 more dangerous than being 65 <, Unemployment was 1.77 higher than employment, and low income classes were 2.42 higher, sensory disabilities was 2.95 more dangerous than mental disorder, and 2.57 more dangerous than physical disorder. Regarding the period of disorder, 29 (years) < was 2.04 less dangerous than 13-28, and 3.27 lower than 12>.

Conclusions: The results indicate that general character, socio-economic level, and features of disorders should be considered in management the prevalence of chronic diseases and the disabled person.
